We’ve all been there: It’s 9:00 PM on Sunday, the "Sunday Scaries" are hitting hard, and you have a vague, looming sense that something is due tomorrow.
You just aren’t sure what.
When you struggle with planning and prioritizing (aka executive functioning), the transition from the weekend to the school week can feel like jumping onto a moving treadmill.
But what if you could take the power back? A Sunday reset for students isn’t about a three-hour deep clean; it’s a high-impact, 30-minute routine designed to clear the mental fog and help you actually enjoy your Sunday night.

Step 1: The Brain Dump (5 Minutes)
Grab a piece of paper or open a fresh notes app. Don’t look at your calendar yet. Just write down every single thing swirling in your head.
“Finish that history essay.”
“Buy a birthday gift for Mom.”
“Why did my teacher mention a quiz on Tuesday??”
Why it works: Getting it out of your head and onto paper reduces "cognitive load." Your brain can stop using energy just trying to remember the task and start using energy to actually do it.
Step 2: The Syllabus Scavenger Hunt (10 Minutes)
This is where the magic happens. Open your syllabus, your LMS (Canvas, Google Classroom, etc.), and your calendar.
Look ahead 7 days: What is due or upcoming.
Look ahead 14 days: Are there any big projects (essays, exams) looming?
Identify "Sneaky" Deadlines: Check for any mid-week deadlines that usually trip you up.
Step 3: The Time-Block Reality Check (10 Minutes)
Now, look at your actual life. If you have soccer practice until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, you aren’t going to write a five-page paper that night.
Match tasks to energy: Save the heavy reading for when you’re most awake.
Break it down: Don't write "Study for Chem" on your planner. Write "Review Periodic Table flashcards for 15 minutes." Small wins build momentum.
Step 4: The "Future You" Launchpad (5 Minutes)
Close out your Sunday Reset for students by doing three tiny things that will make Monday Morning you feel like a genius:
Clear your workspace. (A clean desk = a clear mind).
Pack the bag. Laptop charger? Notebook? It all goes in now.
Pick the "Big One." Decide on the one most important task you want to finish tomorrow.
